"Officers contacted the driver, who was armed with a firearm, and an officer involved shooting occurred." The suspect was taken by paramedics to a hospital, where he was in critical condition, Garcia said. No officers were injured and a loaded firearm was recovered at the scene.The suspect's name has not been released. The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 12:01 a.m., for the eastbound and westbound Pacific Coast Highway off-ramps from the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway.
